If I told you this Saturday we're gonna spend over 9 hours sitting in a tight, confined space soaking in other peoples germs I doubt you would envy me. Well what if I told you the reward for that disgusting immune system endurance test was spending a week in Hawaii? Now you're jealous. This Saturday Marieta and I will leave our mainland cares behind and will kick back with tropical drinks on the beautiful island of Kauai. I can hardly wait. If you're reading this on Facebook you already know how much of a jerk I've been about it, but in case you aren't down with the social networking I've been posting videos like this:
Since last week. I wont post a video of everything we're gonna do but here's a small list: Snorkeling, swimming in the ocean, hiking up mountains, going ot a lauau, taking a zipline tour of the mountains (back in the day I always said we should travel by zipline, life would be so much more fun), exploring the sugar tunnels of Kauai, and SO MUCH MORE. I doubt I'll be on the internet much of next week so you may not be able to live vicariously through my blog but if we do have the web at our resort... who knows. I should really leave the super highway at the airport on this trip... we'll see if my addiction gets the best of me. Aloha.

Watching Jurassic Park 2
That is how bored I am. I haven't seen this film since I went with Dan Givens to the Debut in 1997. I may have only been like 14 but even then I recognized the stupidity of this film. So why am I watching it now? Because it's Sunday and Marieta is out shopping for our Hawaii tripand I have nothing to do but digitize the Brian Hogan archive. I fixed my bike tire earlier but now I'm pretty much bored out of my mind. I think it may be time to get out of this place and go for a bike ride.

An Iowegan July
Yesterday was my one month anniversary at CRI. Good times. I've had a handful of stuff on air, been working intermittently on revamping the CRI site, and I'd like to think I've become an integral part of the lunch committee. My seat on the board of lunch-resentatives is still probationary but I think I've proved my worth...
Oh Iowa, this is my third time embracing you as a citizen and you have not let me down. We've been busy with old friends, making new ones, taking adventures around Des Moines, and even christened our wedding gifted tent last weekend at Backbone state park. T'was a good time. check out this video:
Camping @ BackBone State Park from Patryck Boberg on Vimeo.
And now fourth of July is upon us! It should be pretty sweet. Friday the 3rd I'm golfing with my grade school buds Wags and Elliot, Friday night Marieta and I are getting together with the soon to be wed Nick and Leslie, and Saturday... oh boy am I excited. I'm running a 5k with Jordan followed by a day of fun at his Father-in-law Scott's place. Scott is homebrew guy and some sort of big beer guy in the midwest. When Marieta and I were first dating we'd occasionally be over there and Scott would always have something new and tasty for us to sample. Good times.
So if I can figure out how to do it, expect a video of my run. Maybe a time lapse or something... If I can't get that together, than definitely some footage of the rest of my weekend. Hope your Independence day is rockin. Peace.
